Leah Williams

Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy in Bridgend

Hi there!

I'm Leah, an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I offer one-to-one therapy in a caring, confidential space, and I enjoy working collaboratively with my clients to find the approach that feels right for you.

I currently offer counselling both in person in Bridgend town centre and online. If you're considering therapy, I'm happy to offer an introductory call so we can talk a little about what you're looking for and see if I can help.

Lets Talk

Finding a counsellor you feel comfortable talking to is one of the most important parts of therapy. Here's a bit about what's important to me, and how it shows up in my work.

Collaboration

To me, counselling is a process of working together. You are the expert in your own life and experience, and I bring my own curiosity, understanding, and sometimes a different perspective to help you make sense of what's going on. Together we can work out what feels most helpful, at a pace that feels manageable for you.

Come as you are

Where you are right now is the right place to be in therapy. There is no expectation that you have the 'right' words to explain how you're feeling, or have a plan to feel differently. You can arrive exactly as you are, whether that's angry, confused, numb or hopeful. I do my best to meet you where you are emotionally and we work together from there.

It's all welcome

Therapy sessions don't always have to be about the biggest or most obvious things happening for you. If it's on your mind, then it has its place in therapy too. It also doesn't always have to be negative. We can make space for the positive things happening in your life, as well as the things you are maybe unsure how to feel about.

Do you think we're a good fit?

You don't have to know just yet. A few more details about the practical elements of my work might help you make up your mind.

I'll meet you...

Online

I offer online counselling sessions via Zoom, so we can meet wherever you have a comfortable, private space to talk. It can be a flexible way to make time for counselling without needing to travel.

In person

I offer in-person counselling sessions from a counselling hub in Bridgend town centre. Having somewhere separate from home and your usual routines can give you some space to pause, focus on yourself, and reflect on what’s going on in your life.

Nuts & bolts

Confidential

What you choose to discuss in our sessions stays with me. There are some limits to this to ensure I am working ethically and keeping you safe. This means I will discuss our work with my supervisor, and in certain circumstances may need to share information with other services. Where this is the case, I will let you know as long as it is safe and appropriate to do so.

Individual

I offer one-to-one counselling sessions, giving us space to focus on your experiences. We can explore what feels important to you.

Flexible

Counselling sessions can be longer term, or we can arrange to have a set number of sessions to focus on something specific. We can discuss together what feels right for you.

What if...

I'm not sure what the problem is?

You don't need to know exactly what is wrong before you access counselling. Feeling that you would like to have counselling or that you could feel better than you do right now is enough of a reason. Why you might be feeling this way might be part of what we discuss during our work together, you don't have to have it all figured out before you arrive.

We aren't the right fit?

Feeling like you can connect and be open with your counsellor is an important part of therapy. If we have worked together but you feel someone else may be a better fit, I am happy for my clients to explore other counsellors and different ways of working; just let me know. I may even be able to help you find the right person!

I can't do weekly sessions?

In my experience, therapy doesn't always have to mean seeing a counsellor in-person every week. Life is busy and we are all managing many demands on our time! There are many different arrangements that might still feel helpful for you. I work with my clients to find an arrangement that works for us both.

Ok, book me in

Send me a message

You can contact me by filling out the contact form on this site, or by emailing me through my Counselling Directory page. Either way, I'll get back to you as soon as I can to find out more about your situation, and give you the opportunity to decide if I'm the right counsellor for you.

I'll book you in

Once we have both decided we are a good fit, we will book in a session. This could be in-person or online, depending on your preference and our availability.

I try to briefly chat to everyone who contacts me over the phone where possible. It gives us both a flavour of the other person and a sense of whether we could work well together. It's also your chance to ask any questions you may have before booking a session, and helps me to ensure I have the right skills to help you.
